I have to addmit I have apsolutely no idea other people commented. However, in light of recent events, I felt compelled to offer Polish people "another point of view".
I'm from Belgrade, Serbia, and I have followed the situation regarding instalation of american missile facilities very closely. I believe the relationship between our two nations has always been on the best of terms, therefore I hope my comment will be interpreted only as a friendly one.
I urge the Polish people not to make the same mistake Gorgians did. That was a tragedy of a scale very well known to Serbian people. Learn from our mistakes. Don't allow yourselves to be dragged into a same trap as we have had. A fair relationship with your closest neighbour is always more important than an excellent one with a dearest distant friend!
In this case, you should consider American goverment as your worst enemy, since they are forcing you to expose yourselves to a very great danger - to get in the middle of their sensless dispute with someone they consider thier enemy (out of reasons known only to their triggerhappy officials).
That would be a great tragedy for the Polish people, who, I think, has suffered enough and should only think of it's own prosperity and nothing else.
I truly wish you all the best and I hope you, as people, will recognise the suicidal course some of your officials have taken.
I hope I won't be considered as someone who takes sides (in this case Russian side). If I am to take sides regarding this issue, I choose the Polish side, because I know what ultimate price my people had paid for thinking there was someone out there (government-wise) who cared for it's wellbeing.
I can only pray things won't take the wrong course, and that reason will prevail with the Polish people... that you will not yield, that you will not give way fears someone's implementing in you so they could profit out of your bad judgement.
Small nations should stick togather. That's our only way to survive these dreadfull times.
Godspeed
